BSB61315 Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Communication has been designed as a pathway from the Diploma level course. This course focuses on the higher-level management skills based on sound theoretical knowledge of marketing in the context of a business strategy. It looks at Australian and international marketing trends with a focus on Asia Pacific marketing.
Students study includes market research techniques, business and marketing risk management, international marketing, organisational marketing objectives and advertising campaigns.
Leadership, business innovation and organisational change is also covered for roles expected to be at a director or project leader level in a business or organisation.
International students must be over eighteen years old and provide evidence to demonstrate meeting the entry requirements as follows:
Course Specific Entry Requirements – The Marketing and Communications pathway:
- This course requires completion of 3 core units from the BSB52415 Diploma of Marketing and Communications. Mercury College expects international students to complete the full Diploma level qualification prior to commencing the Advanced Diploma level
Academic General Requirements:
- Successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent and/or above English Language Requirements: as follows:
- IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
The Diploma of Marketing and Communications delivered and assessed in English only will be deemed as meeting both the academic and English language entry requirements.
Entry into the course will depend on the Australian Immigration office’s Assessment Level for an international student’s country. At present, countries are classed from Level 1 through to Level 3. See Immigration’s website: www.immi.gov.au for details.
The Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Communication duration is up to 52 weeks. There are 40 weeks of course delivery plus 12 weeks term break.

Students undertaking BSB61315 Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Communication may exit study at this point or progress as follows:
- Complete a dual qualification – BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management
- Apply for advanced standing to university study in Marketing and Communications

|DELIVERY STRUCTURE – A BLENDED MIX OF CLASSROOM AND ONLINE|
The course is offered in a blended mode of delivery and assessment. This means students are required to attend 15 hours face-to-face full-time classroom study plus complete 5 hours of structured online learning every week.
The course is provided through the Mercury Colleges ELearn platform. Your teachers deliver lectures and tutorials face to face on campus plus students are to complete weekly study online through ELearn. Progress is tracked for every student.
The students access the assessments through ELearn.
Assessment methods include:

Computers – Students must have their own laptop computer. You will use a computer to complete the course in class and in your own time. You may also access College computers when available.
Online learning – Students are required to pay a one-off compulsory resource fee to receive the Mercury Colleges online learning resource called ELearn.

Students may be entitled to gain course credit and/or recognition prior or after commencing the course that will exempt them from completing one or more units of competency. See the website and Student handbook for more details and talk to a course advisor.
Students that successfully complete all 12 units of competency as stated in the Qualification Structure will be issued with BSB61315 Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Communication by Mercury Colleges. This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
